THE ASK
In this capstone course (Senior Project), students work individually with faculty to develop and complete a comprehensive semester-long design project.
PROJECT BRIEF
The newly updated NYC Parks wayfinding signage has long served as a beacon, universally signaling the presence of a local park. Yet, its timeless simplicity lacks a crucial element – ADA compliance.
Introducing interactive touchscreen kiosks and solar power LEDs, my project solves a problem for protected-class citizens. This solution not only enhances the visual appeal of the NYC Parks but also serves a purpose in understanding the needs of the disabled seen and unseen.
By bringing attention to protected class citizens, this project aims to create a lasting impact on the perception and experience of NYC parks, fostering a sense of pride and unity among residents and visitors alike.
STRATEGY
Create an ADA-compliant wayfinding system. This includes two types of tech not currently used in New York City’s parks, interactive screens and solar-powered LEDs.
